Announcements
Dear Families,

Children often see school as an extension of home, where they belong, are loved, and are encouraged. Leaving this home can be stressful or scary for children. Whether children are moving to a PreK classroom down the hall or to a completely new school, expect that many will experience strong emotions – fear, anxiety, extreme joy, excitement, sadness, or frustration. You may notice that these feelings impact their behavior and notice changes in the classroom and at home.
It is important to remember that this is to be expected. Throughout the month of June, we will be supporting the children’s social-emotional development as they become comfortable with the transition from 3K to PreK and PreK to kindergarten. We welcome you to come and talk to us about how to support children at home and ease any anxiety they may feel. We know that this is an important milestone in your child’s life. We are here to support your family

As we close out our exciting study on insects, it’s the perfect time to take our learning outdoors! With summer just around the corner, we’re entering the season where insects are EVERYWHERE – from butterflies fluttering through gardens to ants building their tunnels and bees bussing busily from flower to flower.
Throughout this study, students explored the fascinating world of insects. Now, as you spend more time outside, during these summer months, we encourage our young entomologists to keep their eyes open! Whether on a walk, in the garden, or during a family picnic, there’s always something new to discover.
Ask your child what they notice – what kind of insect it is, how many legs it has, what it’s doing, or where it’s living. These observations are a fun and educational way to connect classroom learning with the world around us. We’re proud of all the curiosity, questions, and discoveries that came from this study. Here’s to a summer full of wonder and little critters!

Family Engagement

When children go through big life changes, such as the transition from PreK to kindergarten, they will have big feelings that they aren’t able to communicate so easily. Acknowledge your child’s feelings. Know that some behaviors may be because of anxiety during the transition.
Keep your home routines and rituals consistent. This will help your child feel a sense of security and stability at home. Read books about moving to kindergarten and talk with your child about the characters and how they feel.. If possible, visit the kindergarten class before the start of the school year. Talk with families of children who have already attended school. Ask them questions about their experiences and for any advice they have for new families.
