Announcements
Dear Families,

During the month of April, The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) hosts The Week of The Young Child, which is an event that highlights the importance of early childhood education. The week aims to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to promote early childhood programs and services. On the calendar, you will find that each day during the week of 4/6-4/11 has a special theme. Look for more information on your child’s ClassDojo page to discover all the wonderful activities taking place in your child’s classroom during this exciting week.

Please complete your parent surveys by April 4th. The survey is an opportunity to let us know what you think went well and where we can serve you better. Your voice counts!

Planting Seeds:
Planting seeds in pots or directly in the ground is a great way to introduce preschoolers to the basics of gardening and the growth cycle of plants.

Tip: Choose easy-to-grow plants like sunflowers, beans, or lettuce.

Gardening Sensory Bin:
Fill a bin with soil, rocks, and small gardening tools for children to explore and practice their fine motor skills.

Bird Feeders:
Hang bird feeders in the garden and observe the different birds that visit.

PK 114/118
In Art, we are continuing our “Buildings/Signs” studies with printmaking and collage activities. In mid-April, we will work with materials from nature as we return to our “Trees” study. We will be drawing from observation, making rubbings and prints using collage and construction materials.

-What is special about our building?
-What happens inside buildings?
-How do trees change, and who lives in trees?
-What can we do with parts of trees?

Family Engagement

Trees
As you embark on the neighborhood walks, help your child explore and appreciate nature as you take a "tree walk". In April, the trees in our community are bursting with leaves and fragrant flowers. Talk with your child about the amazing colors, shapes, and sizes. Your child might enjoy making a collage by arranging and gluing tree items on paper.

Week of The Young Child
Music Monday: Engage children with music through singing, dancing, creating instruments, or even hosting a virtual performance.
Tasty Tuesday: Explore different foods and cultures through food-related activities, like a "rainbow of healthy treats" or a family-shared recipe.
Work Together Wednesday: Focus on teamwork and cooperation through games, building projects, or community service activities.
Artsy Thursday: Encourage creativity and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects using various materials like crayons, paint, or clay.
Family Friday: Celebrate families with activities like family photo collages, sharing family stories, or encouraging quality family time.
